The Pole-Mounted Compact Transformer Substation (PMCTS) is a ready-to-operate substation mounted on a support structure. It is designed to receive electrical power from a high-voltage network, transform it to 0.4 kV, and subsequently distribute electrical energy to consumers.

PMCTS Design
The pole-mounted transformer substation has the following design features:
- a metal or reinforced concrete support structure providing the required mounting height for the transformer;
- a steel enclosure protecting the electrical equipment from external influences;
- a transformer installed inside the substation enclosure;
- equipment including circuit breakers, surge arresters, electricity metering devices, etc.
The substation can be equipped with one or two oil-immersed or dry-type transformers. The transformer rating, ranging from 25 to 2,500 kVA, is selected according to the required power demand. The high-voltage side is rated at 6 kV, 10 kV, or 35 kV, while the low-voltage side is rated at 0.4 kV.
Functional Capabilities
The pole-mounted transformer substation performs the following functions:
- receiving electrical power from the high-voltage network through high-voltage circuit breakers;
- transforming electrical power from the high-voltage network to 0.4 kV;
- distributing the electrical power among consumers;
- protecting electrical equipment against overloads and short circuits;
- metering electricity consumption and monitoring power usage;
- providing protection against external influences.
